2017 Pheasant Prospects, Youth Pollinator Day, Local Trap Shooting Teams, Walk in Access
When high school trap became the fastest-growing sport in the Minnesota State High School League, Stearns County Pheasants Forever was in a unique position to make sure local teams had the financial support to hit the ground running. Thanks to the chapter’s unique fundraising idea, nine high school teams and a youth sporting clays league have benefited to the tune of $45,446 in 2017 alone.

On January 17, 2017, Governor Mark Dayton signed an agreement with USDA Farm Service Agency that will allocate $500 Million dollars to protect up to 60,000 acres of environmentally sensitive farmland in Minnesota with water quality being the target through the permeant easement program, The Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP).

Roadside survey data The DNR’s August roadside survey for pheasants showed a 29 percent increase in the overall pheasant index from 2015. This year’s statewide pheasant index was 52.1 birds per 100 miles of roadside driven.
