Stearns County Pheasants Forever - Youth Page
Minnesota's Next Pheasant Hunters
Welcome to the next generation in conservation and pheasant hunting enthusiasts. In efforts to help our younger generation play a larger role in our efforts to conserve and provide habitat for upland game, our chapter provides today's youth with opportunities to learn about what Pheasants Forever is truly about. Minnesota provides conservation educational materials, safety of firearms and mentor youth hunts for those kids who may not have the same opportunities as most. Take a moment and read about our youth events or find out how you can become a key component of helping future Pheasants Forever Members.
Stearns County Chapter PF Youth Events
Stearns County Chapter Education/Youth Efforts We take on a lot of projects as a chapter, but the most rewarding are undoubtedly our youth programs. Here are a few of the youth programs we've put on lately:
High School Trap and Skeet: SCPF provides fundraising opportunities to support their local team. We also help coach shooters and aide in organizing local teams. In 2015 Minnesota had over 5,000 students participating at the State Shoot in Alexandria, MN. The sport continues to grow each year.
Youth Day: Each year we host our annual Youth Day. Approximately fifty youth from Stearns County travel to Beste's Sporting Clays, Sauk Centre, for some fun, learning and outdoor experience. Shooting instruction, hunting ethics and food are provided to the youngsters.
Sponsorships: We have sponsored numerous youth to attend 4-H shooting sports and outdoor skills events both locally and nationally.

Stearns County Pheasants Forever Youth Fund
Along with the programs below we’re actively assisting area high schools with participation in what is rapidly becoming the most successful youth shooting program – the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League. In 2013 there were 204 schools in the league and more than 3,000 students will participate in 2014. More than 2,000 youth participate in the state tournament annually, the largest one of its kind in the U.S. Schools currently showing interest in the program are Albany, Cathedral, Foley, Holdingford, Long Prairie, Melrose, ROCORI, Sartell, Sauk Centre and Sauk Rapids, some with more than 50 students enrolled.
